About Christina
I believe that healing is possible within safe, collaborative relationships.
I am a psychodynamic therapist with training in Somatic Psychology and a focus on healing from trauma. As I work with each client, we hold the past and present together while creating an honest space for new insights and personal growth to unfold. I draw from several modalities and theories, including Family Systems, Attachment Theory, Mindfulness, and Person-Centered approaches.
I have a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies, and a bachelor’s in Sociology from Wesleyan University. I am currently in the Advanced level of post-graduate training in Somatic Experiencing®, and have completed level 2 training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy.
I have experience working with people across the lifespan. Previous jobs include care coordination for an early childhood wraparound program, and providing therapeutic support at an elder care facility for people living with dementia. I completed graduate and post-graduate internships at the Center for Somatic Psychotherapy and Grateful Heart Holistic Therapy Center, offering affordable counseling services to clients in the San Francisco Bay Area.
I was born and raised in the Bay Area and currently live in Chicago, where I am a parent to one human and one dog.
My Approach
My style as a therapist is curious and validating. I strive to be authentic and engaging — I actively participate and offer reflections with clients. I am well-suited to working with people who seek a deeper understanding of themselves. As a somatic therapist, I ask questions about how experiences and emotions are being felt in the body. I also offer tools and techniques to increase self-awareness and interpersonal skills.
I strongly believe that cultural and sociological forces have a great impact on shaping us, and consider larger systemic factors as crucial elements of what brings us to therapy. I strive to continuously assess how power and privilege show up in the therapeutic relationship. I am committed to making therapy more accessible for all.
